CECBR Programs & Traditions
Building character, while making new friends and getting out of our comfort zone is what camp is all about. Showing empathy and integrity at camp helps to build ones character and we recognize that.
We recognize our campers who display important character traits at a weekly campfire with an “Owl Recognition.”
Each week at our Friday Night Services, campers and staff are selected by the counselors and camp leadership to receive a ‘B’ or ‘E’ Award recognition. A plaque in each bunk lists the award criteria and camp staff speak about the characteristics throughout the week when discussing camper and staff expectations.
‘B’ Award (Blue Ridge)
‘E’ Award (Equinunk)
Friday night service: While we are not a religious camp experience, CECBR campers enjoy our traditional Friday night Shabbat dinner, followed by an inspirational and traditional community experience.
- Each day includes a designated free swim period, and instructional swim takes place 4-6 days a week (depending on the age group).
- All campers must pass a deep-water test before swimming in deep water, boating, or water skiing.
- Our golf plus program, for 5th grade and up, includes five trips to a local golf course campers. There is an additional fee for transportation and course fees. Campers enrolled in this program must bring a “starter set” to camp and should have two collared shirts for appropriate golf attire.
- Our Horseback Riding program gives campers the opportunity to receive riding lessons at a local stable. Campers must bring appropriate riding attire including helmets, boots and jeans.
Registration is available through your MyEBR account or Campanion App account through your forms with an additional fee.
On Friday evenings before dinner, our campers come together for what we call “Blue Ridge Class.” This is a great opportunity for siblings, cousins, neighbors, and camp friends to visit one another. On Tuesday afternoons, we hold “Equinunk Class” as a special time for brothers and sisters to spend time together.
Being surrounded by your camp friends on your birthday is very special. Birthdays at camp include a mealtime celebration with cake and balloons. There is even a bunk party after evening TAPS!
All birthday packages can be sent, but must be clearly labeled as a birthday package.
