Dear Equinunk and Blue Ridge Family,
Thanksgiving is a special time of year when we can set aside time from our busy lives to think about who and what we are truly thankful for; our family and friends, camp, school and home communities and the many other networks of people who impact our lives. The Equinunk and Blue Ridge Family is incredibly lucky and thankful to have generations of campers, parents and staff who are connected to one another and the traditions of CE/CBR. In our continuous effort to not only impact the lives of our camp families and staff, we have developed wonderful relationships with other organizations such as the Neuhaus Memorial Fund, SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education), Children’s Future International and others. In this special week of giving thanks, we want to share with you another organization that we have begun working with.
Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge is proud to partner with Experience Camps, a non-profit program for grieving children, who we will be running a camp with next summer. Experience Camps are free one-week camps for children ages 9-16 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver that take place at various locations around the country. They provide opportunities for kids to connect and bond with other kids who understand what they’re going through, while incorporating the same values, activities, and positive outcomes that our own campers enjoy during their time at camp. It’s a place where kids can be the best versions of themselves, and we’re thrilled to provide a new home for this growing program. Experience Camps at CECBR will take place August 13-18 next summer, just after our campers depart.
If you are interested in volunteering for the week of ‘CECBR Experience’ or know a camper who could benefit from this program, please visit www.experience.camp and click on the ‘Mid-Atlantic’ location to apply or learn more. In the coming months, we will share a little more about our work with Experience Camps and are grateful to their leadership team for having chosen to partner with CECBR in providing this wonderful experience.
Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.
Warmly,
Sheryl, Riche, Adam, Caralyne, Nicki, Lori, Gil, Jordan, Eric and the entire EBR Team
